Resumo

The dynamics and stability of a Bose-Einstein Condensate, described by a two-dimensional nonlinear Schrodinger equation in a one-dimensional conservative plus dissipative nonlinear optical lattice, are investigated. In the case of focusing media (with attractive atomic systems), the collapse of the wave packet is arrested by the dissipative periodic nonlinearity. Confirmed by full numerical simulations, a stable soliton can exist in the defocusing media (repulsive case) with harmonic trap or linear periodic potential in one dimension (y-direction), with nonlinear optical lattice in the x-direction.
