Dos vocábulos mais relevantes estatisticamente nesta pesquisa, foram selecionados cinco verbos no nível A2: need, give, mean, would e will, sendo os dois últimos modais, e seis no nível B1: be, have, make, take, get e find. Eles apresentram coocorrêcias tais como: need help, give instructions, mean by, would prove, will remain, be fooled, have consequences, make sense, take form, get stuck e find information.
The objective of this research was to select collocations with transitive verbs classified as A2 and B1 by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). We also established a methodological sequence to elaborate Oral Comprehension (OC) activities aimed to help professionals who teach English as a second language in order to help in the OC development of their students. The students are classified as B1 by the CEFR. To achieve this goal, a corpus based on transcriptions of TED Ed videos was compiled. TED Ed is a website that provides animated educational videos. Corpus linguistics was used as a theoretical methodological support ((RENOUF & SINCLAIR, 1991; BIBER, 1998; TOGNINIBONELLI, 2001; BERBER SARDINHA, 2004, 2012; BREZINA, MCENERY and WATTAM, 2015, 2018) along with LancsBox, which is a software package for the analysis of language data and corpora (BREZINA, WEILL-TESSIER and MCENERY, 2020) that has features such as WordList, Keywords, GraphColl and Concordance, and the conceptions about OC (BUCK, 2001; FLOWERDEW, MILLER, 2005; ROST, 2011) and collocations (BERBER SARDINHA, 2004; BREZINA, MCENERY and WATTAM 2015, 2018). The study corpus has 490,591 tokens and 29,924 types. The main corpus can be divided into 13 subcorpora. The data from the corpus was compared to the A2 and B1 CEFR levels, more specifically the transitive verb-phases in the English Profile website. The most statistically relevant words in this paper were selected. At A2 level: need, give, mean, would and will, and at B1 level: be, have, make, take, get and find. These are some of the coolocations they presented: need help, give instructions, mean by, would prove, will remain, be fooled, have consequences, make sense, take form, get stuck and find information. These verbs and their collocations were selected to create OC activities. We also considered DDL concepts in the creation process. This study is intended to help improving students’ OC abilities, besides aiding them to access different cultures, habits and knowledge and therefore develop themselves personally and socially.
