Temperature is know to influence many responses and physiological processes which regulates the homeostasis of ectothermic aquatic organisms. In this research, we investigated the effect of acclimatization temperature (22, 26 and 30°C), and its effect on routine metabolism (MO2), ammonia excretion (JAmm) and sodium ion flux (JNanet) and Cl- (JClnet), on the fish species Scleromystax macropterus (corydora), and shrimp, Macrobrachium petronioi (pitu), residents of black water rivers of the Itanhaém River basin – Itanhaém/SP. The acclimatization temperature significantly influenced the metabolism, excretion and ionoregulation of the studied species. The routine metabolism of Macrobrachium petronioi was significantly affected by temperature in the treatments of 22 and 30°C, what did not occur with S. macropterus. The JAmm of the fishes kept at 26°C was significantly lower than when acclimated to 22°C and 30°C (P = <0.001), but not between the highest and lowest temperatures tested. For M. petronioi, ammonia excretion was significantly higher (P = <0.001) in animals acclimated to 22°C (-4.160 ± 0.224 µmol g-1 h-1), when compared to shrimp kept at 26°C (-0. 0605 ± 0.112 µmol g-1 h-1) and 30°C (-0.290 ± 0.391 µmol g-1 h-1), but there was no difference between the last two temperatures. Scleromystax macropterus showed a pattern of absorption of sodium ions (2.350 ± 1.960 µmol g-1 h-1) when acclimated to 22°C, followed by net losses of Na+ when the animals were kept at 26°C (-1.857 ± 0.360 µmol g -1 h-1) and 30°C (-2.500 ± 0.503 µmol g-1 h-1) (P = 0.020). For M. petronioi, no statistically significant differences (P = 0.054) were observed in the net fluxes of Na+ between the three acclimation temperatures (values between -0.303 ± 0.041 to -1.273 ± 0.310 µmol g-1 h-1). Chloride flux at corydoras showed significant differences (P = 0.013) only between 22 and 30°C, with absorption and excretion occurring, respectively. On the other hand, for the pitu shrimp, the net flux of Cl- did not differ statistically between animals acclimated to 22°C and 26°C, but a significant stimulation was observed in the JClnet of shrimps kept at 30°C (-1.522 ± 0.306 µmol g- 1 h-1) (P = 0.003), in relation to the other treatments.
