Resumo

Using the EPA - Corumbatai (Environmental Protection Area) as test site, the main objective was the evaluation of its Environmental Vulnerability, through the use of multi-criteria analysis methods in a GIS environment, aiming to land use/land cover planning. The variables selected to be used in the models were distance to water, soil erodibility, slope gradient, geological, pedological and geomorphological aspects and vegetative cover. These variables were evaluated considering the vulnerability criteria and these parameters were combined according the Weighted Average, in a GIS system. This procedure offered two proposals of environmental vulnerability maps; one considering the vegetative cover as the determinant factor and the other the soil erodibility. A comparative evaluation of the two models showed very homogeneous situations, although the weighting average tends to a subjective analysis. In both proposals, the occurrence of the classes were presented in the following order, from highest to lowest frequency: High, Medium, Very High and Low vulnerability and the class Very Low was considered negligible. The second proposal which used the soil erodibility, showed more representative values of High and Very High classes. Since the soil erodibility is considered an intrinsic and static property of the soil when compared to the dynamic land use/land cover, it was understood that it is the best option to be used.
