escala do pedestre.
Evaluating the benefits of vegetation for the well-being of residents and visitors to Brazilian cities has been the subject of scientific studies over the last three decades. The present work found, as in previous works, that the afforestation of the road, in this case, sidewalks, provides thermal comfort at the pedestrian scale. Therefore, it can be inferred that afforestation works as an urban ecosystem service. In three different urban situations in the city of Ribeirão Preto (SP), the temperature and luminosity parameters were measured on a single day of the year - July 18, 2022 -, every hour, when the atmospheric weather was calm and clear sky. The results showed important thermal gradients on sidewalks shaded by large tree species, whose specimens had good phytosanitary conditions and a large volume of leaves. The results for luminosity did not allow to affirm that the luminous comfort is associated with shading by treetops. It is believed that the data-loggers, as they are very sensitive in capturing this data, may have suffered interference from wind circulation and/or proximity to walls (civil construction). More in-depth studies on the different microclimatic parameters must be developed in order to seek a standard in evaluating the benefits of urban green.
