Resumo
Existem questionamentos na comunidade científica no que se refere à correlação entre saúde bucal e saúde geral das pessoas. Há manifestações de doenças bucais sugestivas dessa correlação. Dentre as alterações sistêmicas que poderiam apresentar correlação com as doenças bucais temos a Diabetes Mellitus, Obesidade e Doenças Cardiovasculares. Porém, não há na literatura científica muitos estudos clínicos sobre essa correlação. Sendo assim, o objetivo desse trabalho foi investigar se há associação entre doenças bucais ( cárie, doença periodontal e lesão periapical) e sistêmicas (Diabetes, Hipertensão Arterial e Obesidade). Foram avaliados 201 pacientes oriundos do Pronto Socorro Odontológico e das Clínicas do Instituto de Ciência e Tecnologia- Campus de São José dos Campos (UNESP). A avaliação dos pacientes foi constituída pela anamnese, exame clínico detalhado, aferição da pressão arterial pré e pós atendimento odontológico, dosagem de glicemia capilar prévia à intervenção, análise da radiografia panorâmica e radiografias periapicais, determinação de peso e altura do paciente e avaliação das patologias bucais e sistêmicas. Os resultados foram analisados estatisticamente através do Teste T, Qui-quadrado, Anova 1 Fator e Tukey, considerando as variáveis em estudo. Concluiu-se que há correlação entre Doenças Sistêmicas e Doença Periodontal. Não foi possível estabelecer uma correlação entre Diabetes Melittus, Hipertensão Arterial e Obesidade com outras patologias orais estudadas (Cárie e Periodontite apical).
There are questions in the scientific community regarding the correlation between oral health and people's general health. There are manifestations of oral diseases suggestive of this correlation. Among the systemic alterations that could be correlated with oral diseases, we have Diabetes Mellitus, Obesity and Cardiovascular Diseases. However, there are not many clinical studies in the scientific literature on this correlation. Therefore, the objective of this study was to investigate whether there is an association between oral diseases (caries, periodontal disease and periapical lesion) and systemic diseases (Diabetes, Arterial Hypertension and Obesity). A total of 201 patients from the Dental Emergency Room and the Clinics of the Science and Technology Institute - Campus of São José dos Campos (UNESP) were evaluated. The evaluation of the patients consisted of anamnesis, detailed clinical examination, blood pressure measurement before and after dental care, measurement of capillary blood glucose prior to the intervention, analysis of panoramic radiography and periapical radiographs, determination of the patient's weight and height, and evaluation of. oral and systemic patologies. The results were statistically analyzed using the T, Chi-square, Anova 1 Factor and Tukey T test, considering the variables under study. It was concluded that there is a correlation between Systemic Diseases and Periodontal Disease. It was not possible to establish a correlation between Diabetes Mellitus, Arterial Hypertension and Obesity with other oral pathologies studied (Caries and Apical Periodontitis).
