dc.description.abstractA fibromialgia é uma das doenças reumatológicas mais prevalentes na população geral e importante causa de síndrome dolorosa crônica. Tem uma etiologia multifatorial que ainda não foi totalmente compreendida. Esta revisão sistemática examinou se a Terapia Cognitivo-Comportamental (TCC) objetiva investigar e melhorar o manejo da dor em pacientes com fibromialgia. Pesquisas foram feitas nas bases de dados PubMed, Scopus e Web of Science, incluindo artigos em inglês, espanhol e português. Foram encontrados 24 estudos prospectivos, representando uma amostra total de 1.858 participantes, principalmente mulheres com idade entre 40 e 50 anos, publicados entre 2002 e outubro de 2021. Esses estudos indicaram que a terapia cognitivo-comportamental foi eficiente para ajudar os pacientes a manejar sua dor por meio de estratégias de enfrentamento, mas não na redução da intensidade da dor. O estudo também relatou outros benefícios associados a essas psicoterapias e limitações metodológicas. Perspectiva: A atual revisão sistemática investiga os efeitos da TCC no manejo da dor em pacientes com fibromialgia. dc.description.abstractFibromyalgia is one of the most prevalent rheumatological diseases in the general population and an important cause of chronic pain syndrome. It has a multifactorial aetiology which is not yet fully understood. This Systematic Review examined if Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) can improve pain management in patients with fibromyalgia. We searched in PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases, including papers in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Twenty-four prospective studies were found, representing a total sample of 1.858 participants, mainly women aged between 40 and 50 years old, published between 2002 and October 2021. These studies indicated that cognitive-behavioural therapy was efficient in helping patients manage their pain through coping strategies, but not in reducing pain intensity. The study also reported other benefits associated with these psychotherapies and methodological limitations. Perspective: The current systematic review investigates the effects of CBT on pain management in patients with fibromyalgia. Findings highlight the crucial role of psychological treatment in the management of chronic pain syndrome.en
