O comportamento do verbo modal poder no discurso de autoajuda: uma investigação no português e no espanhol

Abstract

This paper aims to contribute with the studies on the modal verb poder as an auxiliary verb, by analyzing, from a functionalist perspective, how it behaves, both in Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish, in self-help discourse. In order to do so, we have resorted to the classification of modalities by Hengeveld (2004), with special focus on the notions of target of evaluation and domain of evaluation.

Neste trabalho, procuramos contribuir com os estudos referentes ao emprego do verbo modal poder na condição de verbo auxiliar, investigando, de uma perspectiva funcionalista, como esse verbo se comporta no português brasileiro e no espanhol peninsular, no discurso de autoajuda. Para tanto, utilizamos a classificação das modalidades proposta por Hengeveld (2004), considerando especialmente as noções de alvo de avaliação e domínio de avaliação.
