In this work, we focus the strategies of construction of the Cape Verdean social novel Na Ribeira de Deus (1992) by Henrique Teixeira de Sousa in order to identify, among its main composition guidelines, the confrontation of different cultural parameters in coexistence. As an aesthetic effect, that can evince the demarcation of forms of resistance of a popular culture linked to the African (or neo-African) traditions in the face of the symbolic imposition exercised largely by the Portuguese colonization process. There is a comparison between an official culture imposed and another postulated as tribal and marginal that finds its strength and dynamics in the collective sense.en
