This study analyzes basically short texts by Clarice Lispector and Franz Kafka, in order to comprehend, primarily, which characteristics of this genre are present in each author's poetics, and their formal procedures and most common themes; and, secondly, which would be points of similarity and difference between both. The objects of study are texts whose lengths extend roughly from one line to two pages. Having no taxonomic purpose, the classification short texts has been adopted for this essay. The study suggests that the dialogue form and the temporal exclusion can be the most interesting formal procedures found, which in turn are related to themes such as contemplation and existentialism.en
