A doença renal policística é congênita, autossômica dominante, não ligada ao sexo, afeta igualmente machos e fêmeas, especialmente os da raça persa e cruzamentos com animais dessa raça. A doença renal policística, devido a seu caráter autossômico dominante é sempre transmitida a toda prole dos indivíduos afetados. Seus sinais clínicos são ligados aos sinais clássicos de Insuficiência Renal Crônica, tais como: renomegalia, poliúria, anorexia, hematúria e anemia. Os meios diagnósticos para identificar essa patologia são bastante variados, sendo especialmente valiosos os de imagem, que permitem um diagnóstico precoce. Seu tratamento consiste em controlar os sintomas causados pela Insuficiência Renal Crônica e fornecer conforto e qualidade de vida aos animais portadores, visto que não existe cura. Conhecer a etiologia, sinais clínicos, meios diagnósticos e tratamento são ferramentas essenciais para o controle dessa patologia e consequentemente para o futuro da raça persa e dos cruzamentos obtidos através dela. O objetivo principal deste estudo foi realizar uma revisão bibliográfica acerca da Doença Renal Policística relacionando as formas tradicionais de diagnóstico, tratamento e controle a novos estudos publicados sobre populações de felinos afetados
