dc.description.abstractWe discuss the interaction of two-dimensional chiral bosons with an electromagnetic field, quantizing the system via the Dirac procedure. A quantum theory is obtained; however, due to the mass generation the system is consistent only if further constraints are imposed. In such a case, the electromagnetic field is trivial. The role of the gauge Jackiw-Rajaraman mass parameter is also discussed. © 1989 The American Physical Society.en
