Resumo

China-Brazil Earth Resources Satellites (CBERS) program is a partnership agreement established in 1988 between Brazil and China for the development and operation of Earth observation satellites. The first satellite series, named CBERS 1&2, had 70% Chinese and 30% Brazilian investments. CBERS 3&4 are the second-generation satellites, with a new investment division: 50% covered by each country. This chapter presents an overview of MUX Multispectral imager of CBERS 3&4 developed by Brazilian company Opto Eletrônica under the National Institute for Space Research (INPE) supervision. The MUX imager is the first high-technology satellite payload completely developed and assembled in Brazil, therefore it constitutes a remarkable progress of Brazilian capability and skills in optical payloads for spaceborne remote sensing applications.
