Resumo

The paper concerns the introduction of cubic nonlinearity into a vibration absorber to improve its effectiveness. The nonlinear stiffness is offered by a thin clamped circular plate which undergoes large flexural deflection. Then, a cantilever beam attached with such a nonlinear vibration absorber is modeled. Harmonic Balance Method and numerical analysis method are used to investigate the dynamical behavior of the nonlinear system. It is shown that the nonlinearity causes the second resonant peak shifting to higher frequency range a bit. Therefore, the absorbing bandwidth of the nonlinear vibration absorber is wider than that of an equivalent linear one. Sensitivity analysis for structural response and absorbing performance are conducted. Then, the sensitive parameters are found and optimized.
