Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo compreender em que medida é possível utilizar o pensamento marxiano e o método materialista histórico-dialético para investigar a crise ecológica contemporânea, articulando a relação entre capitalismo e natureza e reconhecendo a centralidade da Amazônia nesse processo. Partindo da crítica à racionalidade capitalista e à fragmentação das ciências, a pesquisa defende que a crise ecológica não pode ser compreendida como uma disfunção externa ao sistema, mas como expressão de suas próprias contradições internas. O percurso metodológico da pesquisa envolveu, inicialmente, a apresentação e defesa do materialismo histórico-dialético como método capaz de captar a totalidade concreta e contraditória das relações sociais e naturais. Em seguida, foram discutidas as contribuições de Marx e de autores marxistas à crítica da separação entre sociedade e natureza. Por fim, o estudo se debruçou sobre a realidade amazônica, considerando desde sua formação geológica até os processos de transformação operados pela ação humana, com destaque para a atuação do capital em suas diferentes frentes — econômicas, políticas e territoriais. Como diagnóstico, a pesquisa reafirma a atualidade e a potência crítica da teoria marxiana diante da crise ecológica, especialmente no contexto do capitaloceno, evidenciando que o materialismo histórico-dialético não só é pertinente como necessário para investigar os fundamentos desse processo. A centralidade da Amazônia, nesse sentido, é reveladora tanto da escala da destruição quanto da necessidade de compreendê-la a partir de uma perspectiva que recuse a separação entre natureza e sociedade.

This research aims to understand to what extent Marxian thought and the historical-dialectical materialist method can be used to investigate the contemporary ecological crisis, by analyzing the relationship between capitalism and nature and recognizing the centrality of the Amazon in this process. Starting from a critique of capitalist rationality and the fragmentation of science, the research argues that the ecological crisis should not be viewed as an external dysfunction, but rather as an expression of the system's internal contradictions. The methodological path involved, firstly, the presentation and defense of historical-dialectical materialism as a method capable of grasping the concrete and contradictory totality of social and natural relations. Next, the contributions of Marx and Marxist authors to the critique of the separation between society and nature were discussed. Finally, the study focused on the Amazonian reality, considering its geological formation and the processes of transformation carried out by human activity, particularly the actions of capital in its various economic, political, and territorial forms. As a diagnosis, the research reaffirms the relevance and critical strength of Marxian theory in addressing the ecological crisis, especially in the context of the Capitalocene, highlighting that historical-dialectical materialism is not only adequate but necessary to investigate the foundations of this process. The centrality of the Amazon, in this sense, reveals both the scale of the destruction and the need to understand it through a perspective that refuses the separation between nature and society.
