Abstract

Abstract (english)

The aim of this work was to explain the errors of bathymetric retrieval using orbital images and relate them with the inherent optical properties (IOPs) on the water in a dam located in the Amazon region (Tucuruí reservoir). First, the orbital image was corrected from the atmospheric influence using the ACOLITE correction and then estimated the total absorption coefficient (at) and the backscattering coefficient (bb) using the quasi-analytical algorithm (QAA) and the bathymetry using a statistical model. The error analyses correlating at and bb with the bathymetry were realized. The results showed that the underestimation error is related with the highest values of at and bb, while the overestimation error is related to lowest values of at and bb. The underestimation error is related to total suspended matter concentration and the overestimation error is related to the presence of submerged macrophytes on shallower regions.
