Cemitério do antigo Asilo Colônia Aimorés: o patrimônio difícil na reconstrução da memória

Abstract

Este trabalho tem como objeto de estudo o Cemitério do antigo Asilo Colônia Aimorés, compreendido no contexto sócio-histórico das ações de profilaxia da hanseníase no estado de São Paulo dos séculos XIX e XX e do recente projeto de tombamento dos remanescentes asilares pelo CONDEPHAAT. A análise sobre o Cemitério fundamentou-se na articulação entre os conceitos de patrimônio difícil, paisagem e memória, como registros fundamentais de uma sucessão histórica que definiu o território paulista. A justificativa parte do estado de abandono do espaço funerário – que é o único fragmento excluído do perímetro de tombamento estabelecido pelo órgão estadual do patrimônio –; a falta de reconhecimento do valor patrimonial do bem sobre os remanescentes do complexo asilar; a ausência de documentação oficial sobre o sítio; e o anonimato póstumo que configura a paisagem do Cemitério por túmulos não identificados. Então, uma série de inquietações orientaram o desenvolvimento do trabalho: Quem foram estas pessoas? Quais foram os seus nomes? Quais foram as suas dores? A experiência da dor deve estar ancorada no espaço? Essa memória deve ser preservada? No Cemitério, como enuncia o pórtico de entrada, realmente terminam as dores da vida? Com o objetivo de incorporar na identidade do território paulista a memória que reconhece também a dor como parte fundamental do processo de compreensão histórica, identitária e social, o trabalho propõe um ensaio projetual que compreende o patrimônio difícil na reconstrução da memória.

This essay has as its object of study the Cemetery of the former Asilo Colônia Aimorés, understood in the socio-historical context of leprosy prophylaxis actions in the state of São Paulo in the 19th and 20th centuries and the recent project to list the remaining asylums by CONDEPHAAT. The analysis of the Cemetery was based on the articulation between the concepts of difficult heritage, landscape and memory, as fundamental records of a historical succession that defined the territory of São Paulo. The justification stems from the state of abandonment of the funerary space – which is a fragment excluded from the listed perimeter established by the state heritage body –; the lack of recognition of the heritage value of the asset over the remnants of the asylum complex; the absence of official documentation about the site; and the posthumous anonymity that configures the Cemetery landscape through unidentified tombs. So, a series of queries guided the development of the work: Who were these people? What were their names? What were your pains? Should the experience of pain be anchored in space? Should this memory be preserved? In the Cemetery, as the entrance states, do the pains of life really end? With the aim of incorporating into the identity of the São Paulo territory a memory that also recognizes pain as a fundamental part of the process of historical, identity and social understanding, this essay proposes a project that understands the difficult heritage in the reconstruction of memory.
