Resumo
The Brazilian Amazon has been mapped by the Brazilian Army Geographic Service (DSG) on the Amazon Radiography project using synthetic aperture radar (SAR) technology. The Amapa State is a special case of this project because it has unique characteristics. Practically more than half of its territory is covered by Amazonian forest, other types of vegetation, isolated populations, and cities. The purpose of this paper is to show the methodology adopted that combines different sensors for remote sensing, multiscale for mapping, and open GIS technologies. Thus, various geospatial products were generated: Orthoimages X (HH polarization) and P (HH, HV, VH and VV polarization) bands, Digital Models with altimetry precision max RMSE 2.4621 and 2.4174 meters, acquisition of 6,000 km2 of high-resolution optical images at urban areas, Topographic Maps, Geospatial database with quality assurance procedures and other results like updated international boundaries of Brazil.
