Resumo
The starting point of the present study is to analyze the process of municipal approval in Sao Paulo at the beginning of the 20th century, focusing on the cases of Assis and Ourinhos. The object of study is the political and legal dynamics that influenced the creation of municipalities during this period. The methodology includes a documentary analysis of bills and official records, as well as a literature review on municipal formation in the state of S & atilde;o Paulo. The theories and concepts discussed involve the consolidation of local power and the influence of agrarian elites on territorial delimitation. The sources used include archives from the Legislative Assembly of the State of Sao Paulo (ALESP). The analysis focuses on the early decades of the 20th century, when urban growth and railway expansion promoted the formation of new municipalities. It concludes that the municipal approval process was profoundly influenced by local economic and political interests.
