Abordagens das revistas Veja e Cartacapital sobre o processo de impeachment da presidenta Dilma Rousseff

Abstract

A partir do exemplo do impeachment da presidente Dilma Rousseff, esta pesquisa ressalta a importância dos meios de comunicação para a formação de uma esfera pública mais democrática e tem como objetivo analisar como as matérias da Veja e CartaCapital abordaram o impeachment da presidenta Dilma Rousseff, buscando refletir sobre a importância da mídia para a esfera pública e o debate democrático. A imprensa tem um papel importante na formação da opinião de seu público, participando direta e indiretamente no processo decisório de uma nação. O uso da mídia pela política é recíproco, pois a mídia usa a política para organizar suas pautas e a política, através de seus atores políticos, se aproveita da mídia para ter visibilidade e se legitimar perante a sociedade. As seguintes questões nortearam esta pesquisa: Como as revistas Veja e CartaCapital abordaram as notícias sobre o processo de impeachment da presidenta Dilma Rousseff? Essas abordagens sugerem algum tipo de posicionamento político na linha editorial? É possível estabelecer um debate plural e democrático sobre o assunto, configurando uma esfera pública inclusiva e participativa? Para responder as perguntas levantadas ao longo do estudo e atingir o objetivo proposto, dois procedimentos metodológicos foram utilizados: a pesquisa bibliográfica e a análise de conteúdo. A análise e a discussão dos resultados são pontos fundamentais do trabalho, pois é onde averiguamos como Veja e CartaCapital abordaram as notícias sobre o processo de impeachment, se houve ou não um posicionamento político pela linha editorial, buscando uma abordagem que proporcione uma esfera pública mais inclusiva e participativa. Ao final deste estudo, sugere-se que tanto Veja como CartaCapital primaram pelos seus posicionamentos políticos-ideológicos, levando seus leitores a partilharem de uma singularidade de opinião conforme a linha editorial de cada revista. Por serem duas importantes revistas nacionais, exercem influência na opinião pública e ao direcionarem intencionalmente o olhar do leitor para as suas ideologias particulares, interferem de forma desfavorável na construção de uma esfera pública mais inclusiva e democrática.

Based on the example of President Dilma Rousseff's impeachment, this research underscores the importance of the media for the formation of a more democratic public sphere and aims to analyze how Veja and CartaCapital news addressed the impeachment of President Dilma Rousseff, seeking reflect on the importance of the media to the public sphere and democratic debate. The press plays an important role in forming the opinion of its public, participating directly and indirectly in the decision-making process of a nation. The use of the media by politics is reciprocal, since the media uses politics to organize their policies, and politics, through its political actors, takes advantage of the media to gain visibility and legitimize itself before society. The following questions guided this research: How did Veja magazines and CartaCapital address the news about President Dilma Rousseff's impeachment process? Do these approaches suggest any kind of political positioning in the editorial line? Is it possible to establish a pluralistic and democratic debate on the subject, configuring an inclusive and participatory public sphere? To answer the questions raised during the study and to achieve the proposed objective, two methodological procedures were used: bibliographical research and content analysis. The analysis and discussion of the results are fundamental points of the work, because it is where we find out how Veja and CartaCapital addressed the news about the impeachment process, whether or not there was a political positioning through the editorial line, seeking an approach that provides a more public sphere inclusive and participatory. At the end of this study, it is suggested that both Veja and CartaCapital excelled by their political-ideological positions, leading their readers to share a singularity of opinion according to the editorial line of each journal. Because they are two important national journals, they exert an influence on public opinion, and by intentionally directing the reader's gaze to their particular ideologies, they have an unfavorable effect on building a more inclusive and democratic public sphere.
