Dinâmica populacional e abundância do siri Callinectes ornatus Ordway, 1863 (Decapoda, Brachyura, Portunidae): uma análise multidecadal na Enseada de Ubatuba, São Paulo, Brasil

Abstract

Tendo em vista que muitas espécies sofrem com a pesca acidental, o objetivo deste estudo foi verificar a variação temporal e espacial da abundância, maturidade sexual gonadal e crescimento do siri Callinectes ornatus em 4 períodos ao longo de 24 anos na Enseada de Ubatuba. As coletas foram realizadas nos anos de 1998,1999 (Período I), 2013/2014 (Período II), 2016/2017 (Período III) e 2021/2022 (Período IV) em 4 pontos estabelecidos mensalmente. Os indivíduos obtidos foram mensurados de acordo com sua largura da carapaça (LC), separados por sexo e estágio gonadal. Os resultados mostraram que a abundância total de indivíduos sofreu uma queda brusca com o passar dos anos (Período I – 6. 455 e Período IV - 2.974). O período IV também apresentou uma diferença significativa com a diminuição da maturidade sexual gonadal para machos (43,09 mm), onde os valores variaram de 49,72 mm até 52,37 mm entre os outros períodos. As fêmeas não apresentaram diferença estatística. Cm relação ao crescimento, os machos do período I apresentaram um valor de L∞ menor (L∞: 7.58) em comparação a os outros períodos (8.05 até 8.29). Para mortalidade, tanto machos como fêmeas não apresentaram alterações quando comparados os períodos. Estes resultados podem vir a ser fruto de alterações na população através da pesca de arrasto, muito forte nessa localidade, e alterando principalmente a abundância e a diminuição da maturidade sexual ao longo do período estudado.

Considering that many species suffer from incidental fishing, the objective of this study was to verify the temporal and spatial variation of abundance, gonadal sexual maturity, and growth of the crab Callinectes ornatus in 4 periods over 24 years in the Ubatuba Inlet. Collections were made in 1998, 1999 (Period I), 2013/2014 (Period II), 2016/2017 (Period III), and 2021/2022 (Period IV) at 4 established monthly points. The individuals obtained were measured according to their carapace width (LC), separated by sex and gonadal stage. The results showed that the total abundance of individuals suffered a sharp decline over the years (Period I - 6,455 and Period IV - 2,974). Period IV also showed a significant difference with the decrease in gonadal sexual maturity for males (43.09 mm), where values varied from 49.72 mm to 52.37 mm among the other periods. Females showed no statistical difference. Regarding growth, males from the period I showed a lower L∞ value (L∞: 7.58) compared to the other periods (8.05 to 8.29). For mortality, both males and females showed no change when comparing the periods. These results may be the result of changes in the population through trawling, which is very strong in this locality, and changing mainly the abundance and the decrease in sexual maturity throughout the studied period.
