Abstract (english)
The paper presents a theoretical discussion about the relationship between sexuality and disability. Talks about the concepts of sexuality and disability as socially constructed and then argue the myths and prejudices that underpin the beliefs of an atypical sexuality when it comes to people with disabilities. Delves into the issue focusing on the person with spinal cord injury, pointing to possible limitations on the phases of sexual response and also important aspects of sex therapy and rehabilitation of this population.

O artigo apresenta uma discussão teórica sobre a relação entre a sexualidade e as deficiências físicas. Discorre-se sobre os conceitos de sexualidade e deficiência como socialmente construídos para depois argumentar as crenças de uma sexualidade atípica quando se trata de pessoas com deficiências são mitos e expressam preconceitos. Aprofunda-se a questão focalizando a pessoa com lesão medular, apontando as possíveis limitações nas fases da resposta sexual e também aspectos importantes sobre a reabilitação e a terapia sexual dessa população.
