Abstract

With the aim of adapting working conditions to the skills, abilities and limitations of workers, this paper presents the results of an ergonomical intervention performed at an volumetric and velocimetric water meters factory, located in Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil. Based on a systemic approach which considers human-task-machine-environment interface, the results indicated that the factory exposes its workers to problems of physical-environmental, organizational, job, biomechanical and psychosocial order. Changes and adjustments in the surveyed employees' working conditions were proposed to guarantee comfort, safety and life quality to these people. © 2013 Taylor & Francis Group.
