As construções ferroviárias, sejam elas de infraestrutura de operação ou de moradia,
merecem destaque por serem testemunhos da época em que o transporte ferroviário
era ativo, e também, para além disso, por serem exemplares do uso de certos
materiais e técnicas construtivas empregadas nas construções dos séculos XIX e XX.
A Revolução Industrial influenciou diversos países em seus meios de produção, além
de ter gerado influência perante os materiais construtivos utilizados nas construções
da época, como é o caso do vidro, do ferro e do tijolo cerâmico. E com o Brasil não foi
diferente. Este estudo pretende avaliar as técnicas construtivas empregadas no uso
do tijolo cerâmico no edifício da Estação da Companhia Paulista em Campinas (São
Paulo), entre 1884 e 1920, a fim de complementar a investigação acerca da expansão
do uso desse material nas construções ferroviárias da época e da mão de obra atuante
nessas construções. Para tanto, tem como objetivos específicos compreender o
cenário da construção civil no Brasil e estado de São Paulo no século XIX; identificar
os materiais construtivos encontrados no edifício da estação ferroviária da CPEF em
Campinas, sobretudo a presença do tijolo cerâmico; identificar e caracterizar as
técnicas construtivas empregadas no uso do tijolo cerâmico no edifício em questão,
bem como quem dominava essas técnicas; analisar e compreender a expansão do
uso desse material nas edificações ferroviárias (infraestrutura de operação) da época.
Para a realização da pesquisa serão utilizados procedimentos de caráter qualitativo
que envolvem pesquisas bibliográficas, por meio de leitura de livros, artigos, teses e
dissertações; pesquisas documentais, a partir de consultas realizadas em inventários,
projetos e fotografias; e arqueológicas, através de investigação do objeto como
documento, no caso a estação ferroviária de Campinas, a fim de atingir os objetivos
propostos. Dentre os resultados esperados, espera-se obter dados técnicos referentes
à presença do tijolo cerâmico no edifício da estação, no que tange seu uso e técnicas
construtivas, e obter melhor compreensão acerca das mãos atuantes nas construções
ferroviárias do período em questão.

Railway constructions, whether operating infrastructure or housing, are worth
mentioning for being testimonies of the time when rail transport was active, and also,
in addition, for being exemplary of the use of certain materials and construction
techniques employed in constructions. of the 19th and 20th centuries. The Industrial
Revolution influenced several countries in their means of production, in addition to
having influenced the construction materials used in construction at the time, such as
glass, iron and ceramic brick. And with Brazil it was no different. This study intends to
evaluate the constructive techniques used in the use of ceramic brick in the Companhia
Paulista Station building in Campinas (São Paulo), between 1884 and 1920, in order
to complement the investigation about the expansion of the use of this material in the
railway constructions of the time and the workforce working in these buildings. To do
so, it has the specific objectives of understanding the civil construction scenario in
Brazil and the state of São Paulo in the 19th century; identify the building materials
found in the CPEF railway station building in Campinas, especially the presence of
ceramic brick; identify and characterize the constructive techniques used in the use of
ceramic brick in the building in question, as well as who mastered these techniques;
analyze and understand the expansion of the use of this material in railway buildings
(operating infrastructure) at the time. To carry out the research, qualitative procedures
involving bibliographical research will be used, through the reading of books, articles,
theses and dissertations; documentary research, based on consultations carried out in
inventories, projects and photographs; and archaeological, through investigation of the
object as a document, in this case the Campinas railway station, in order to achieve
the proposed objectives. Among the expected results, it is expected to obtain technical
data regarding the presence of ceramic brick in the station building, regarding its use
and construction techniques, and to obtain a better understanding of the active hands
in the railway constructions of the period in question
