A tragédia grega na cena contemporânea: uma leitura do espetáculo Antígona de Andrea Beltrão e Amir Haddad

Abstract

Acredita-se que as tragédias gregas teriam surgido em Atenas no século V a.C., em meio aos festivais de celebração dionisíaca. Assim, a tragédia é um dos elementos significativos que permeiam a cultura grega. Desde então, observa-se que ao longo da história da literatura dramática, frequentemente, ocorrem diálogos com a tragédia grega e os seus respectivos temas. No Brasil, desde a década de 1940, as encenações teatrais baseadas nas tragédias são constantes e crescentes. Percebendo esse avanço e o interesse de dramaturgos e diretores pela encenação desses temas da Antiguidade Clássica, vê-se que na contemporaneidade, a representação cênica desses textos dialoga com questões sociais, políticas e até mesmo de experimentação teatral, pois afirmam a atualidade e a perpetuação das tragédias gregas. No final de 2016, a partir da obra de Sófocles, houve a montagem de Antígona, interpretada por Andrea Beltrão e dirigida por Amir Haddad. A presente pesquisa visa analisar a encenação de Antígona e compreender como os temas da Antiguidade Clássica se apresentam nessa representação. Para isso, faremos uma leitura a partir da semiologia do espetáculo teatral com base nos recursos utilizados em cena, tal leitura será fundamentada pela teoria dos signos teatrais postulada por Tadeuz Kowzan e, além disso, analisaremos essa encenação com base nos estudos sobre o teatro épico de Bertolt Brecht, para que, com esse escopo, possamos compreender os sentidos produzidos por essa encenação na contemporaneidade.

Greek tragedies are believed to have arisen in Athens in the 5th century BC in Dionysian celebration festivals. Thus, tragedy is one of the significant elements that permeate Greek culture. Since then, it has been observed that throughout the history of dramatic literature, dialogues with Greek tragedy often occur and their respective themes as well. In Brazil, since 1940, theatrical performances based on tragedies have been constant and growing. As we realize the advance and the interest of playwrights and directors for staging these themes of Classical Antiquity, we see that in contemporary times the scenic representation of these texts dialogues with political and social issues and even theatrical experimentation as they affirm the present and timeless Greek tragedies. At the end of 2016, from the work of Sophocles, there was a staging of Antigone performed by Andrea Beltrão and directed by Amir Haddad. The present research aims to analyze the staging in Antigone and understand how the themes of Classical Antiquity appear in this representation. For that, we will have a reading from the semiology of the theatrical show based on the resources used for the scene. Such reading will be based on the theory of theatrical signs postulated by Tadeuz Kowzan and, furthermore, we will analyze the staging based on studies of Bertolt Brecht's epic theater, so that we can understand meanings produced by this staging in contemporary times with that scope.
