Resumo
The fruit processing industry produces a significant amount of waste, including peels, leaves, stems, and seeds, making their recovery and effective utilization vital for reducing environmental issues and creating value‐added products. Brazil, a major producer of citrus fruits, particularly oranges, is focusing on using citrus waste in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. Notably, antioxidants and phenolic compounds from orange peels have potential applications in functional foods, pharmaceuticals, and dermo‐cosmetics. This chapter will highlight these biological compounds and their relevance to the circular economy, as well as demonstrate the development of a product from orange waste using the Technology Readiness Level scale.
