Anotando em treebank e traduzindo com alinhamento na leitura e tradução de Epicteto, I,1-5

Abstract

Este trabalho tem o objetivo de analisar alguns aspectos do processo tradutológico do qual fizeram parte os estudos filológicos tradicionais, uma abordagem teórica e recursos digitais, tendo por corpus os cinco capítulos iniciais dos Discursos, de Epicteto, registrados por Arriano. Como pressuposto teórico e metodológico, a pesquisa se inspirou em orientações tradutológicas de M. Baker (2018) para a escolha de equivalentes entre as línguas, relativas à identificação dos problemas de não equivalência e às estratégias a serem seguidas para a escolha dos equivalentes, e em premissas do Classicismo Digital concernentes a leitura, análise e tradução de textos clássicos por meio de alinhamento de tradução, anotação em treebank e levantamento quantitativo. O alinhamento da tradução foi realizado por meio dos editores Alpheios e Ugarit-iAligner, que indicam as escolhas lexicais e a relação de pareamento entre as línguas. A anotação sintática em treebank foi realizada por meio do editor Arethusa, que registra a leitura do texto grego de maneira dinâmica. A partir das discussões, concluiu-se que o uso de recursos digitais foi essencial para a compreensão dos mecanismos linguísticos envolvidos na tradução.

This paper aims to analyze some aspects of the translation process of which were part traditional philological studies, a theoretical approach, and digital resources, having as corpus the five initial chapters of the Discourses, by Epictetus, recorded by Arrian. As a theoretical and methodological assumption, the research was inspired by M. Baker's (2018) translation guidelines for the choice of equivalents between languages, concerning the identification of problems of non-equivalence and the strategies to be followed for the choice of equivalents, and in premises of Digital Classicism concerning the reading, analysis, and translation of classical texts through translation alignment, treebank annotation, and quantitative survey. Translation alignment was performed using the Alpheios and Ugarit-iAligner editors, which indicate the lexical choices and the pairing relationship between the languages. Syntax annotation in treebank was performed using the Arethusa editor, which records the reading of the Greek text dynamically. From the discussions, it was concluded that the use of digital resources was essential for the understanding of the linguistic mechanisms involved in translation.
