O presente trabalho buscou avaliar a gestão de três propriedades rurais na região de Jaboticabal na atividade leiteira como objetivo de identificar e analisar os principais fatores que tornam a gestão especializada na produção de leite um diferencial na eficiência do processo. Foram entrevistados três produtores de leite, compreendidos como produtores da região estudada com vistas a identificar os fatores que vem dificultando a atividade leiteira na região. A partir da análise dos resultados, identificou-se que a falta do conhecimento técnico em conjunto com à crescente elevação dos custos de produção e a contínua redução dos preços pagos pela indústria de lacínios para o produtores tem dificultado a rentabilidade do negócio. Além disso, o produtor está inseguro com o futuro do seu negócio e a instabilidade do mercado. Assim, ele não investe em seu processo produtivo, o que prejudica diretamente sua especialização, resultando na baixa eficiência do sistema. Conclui-se, então, que são necessários maior auxilio, por parte do governo, e melhores parcerias com a iniciativa privada, visando preservar o pequeno produtor, fornecendo-lhe conhecimento técnico e acesso a linhas de financiamento rurais. A implementação dessas medidas serviria como garantias para a ocorrência da especialização do produtor e também para melhor eficiência na atividade leiteria.

The present work sought to evaluate the management of three rural properties in the region of Jaboticabal in the dairy activity in order to identify and analyze the main factors that make specialized management in milk production a differential in the efficiency of the process. Three milk producers, understood as producers of the studied region, were interviewed in order to identify the factors that have been hindering the dairy activity in the region. From the analysis of the results, it was identified that the lack of technical knowledge together with the increasing increase in production costs and the continuous reduction of prices paid by the dairy industry to producers has hampered the profitability of the business. In addition, the producer is insecure about the future of his business and the instability of the market. Thus, he does not invest in his production process, which directly harms his specialization, resulting in low system efficiency. It is concluded, then, that greater assistance is needed from the government, and better partnerships with the private sector, in order to preserve the producer, providing him with technical knowledge and access to rural financing lines. The implementation of these measures would serve as guarantees for the occurrence of the specialization of the small producer and also for better efficiency in the dairy activity.
