THE FLAVOUR OF THE PLACE DO NOT LEAVE ME BY RACHEL DE QUEIROZ

Abstract

Rachel de Queiroz (1910-2003) was a writer who, stimulated by their experiences and remembrances, wrote passionately about the Cear hinterland, about its landscapes, customs, people, typical food and beverage. In this paper, we discuss the relationship that Rachel has with her beloved farm Nao Me Deixes, located in Quixad, from the flavor of food, specifically from the stories and recipes described in her book O Nao Me Deixes: suas historias e sua cozinha. We understand, therefore, that the flavor is a sense that mediates the experience between people and places, founding a geographicity, an essential relationship between man and Earth.
