Multiculturalismo no exército indiano: um estudo de caso do período pós-independência nacional (1947-1985)

Abstract

As raízes de uma sociedade multicultural podem ser as mais profundas e entrelaçadas possíveis; forças externas ao solo podem danificar essas raízes, modificando sua história e legado e trazendo algo novo. A Índia possui uma sociedade ricamente diversa, que traz consigo uma complexidade, trazendo formas diferentes de organização das encontradas no Ocidente. Advindo de uma pesquisa bibliográfica, o presente trabalho visa analisar a influência britânica na sociedade indiana no pré- e pós-independência (até 1985) e mostrar como o multiculturalismo, e a forma que ele foi manuseado pela coroa britânica, refletiram no exército e nos seus feitos, traçando uma visão teórica acerca de conceitos pertinentes ao tema de segurança e cultura sul-asiática, tendo o comunalismo como teoria principal para a análise dos fatos históricos da época, fazendo uma reflexão sobre a interseccionalidade entre ramos das relações internacionais.

The roots of a multicultural society can be as deep and intertwined as possible; forces outside the soil can damage these roots, changing their history and legacy and bringing something new. India has a richly diverse society, which brings with it complexity, bringing different forms of organization from those found in the West. Coming from a bibliographical research, the present work aims to analyze the British influence on Indian society in the pre- and post-independence (until 1985) and to show how multiculturalism, and the way it was handled by the British crown, reflected in the army and in the their achievements, tracing a theoretical vision about concepts pertinent to the theme of security and South Asian culture, having communalism as the main theory for the analysis of the historical facts of the time, making a reflection on the intersectionality between branches of international relations.
