Resumo
The subject of this chapter is BmooMPα-I. BmooMPα-I is a Met-zincin metallo-endopeptidase and a reprolysin characterized from the venom of the Brazilian lancehead snake (Bothrops moojeni). It is nonhemorrhagic, and in degradation of neuropeptides and vasoactive peptides shows an unusual preference for cleavage of prolyl bonds. It is antiinflammatory because it degrades tumor necrosis factor, and an anticoagulant because it degrades fibrinogen.
