The Alianca Nacional Libertadora (ANL) Program

Abstract

The Alianca Nacional Libertadora (ANL) was a popular front that existed in Brazil in the 1930s. It was composed of parties such as the Communist Party of Brazil (PCB), the Brazilian Socialist Party (PSB), the leftist lieutenant, unions and other popular associations. Its agrarian and anti-imperialist program, due to the fact that the ANL has become a mass organization, had great repercussions and continued with its principles being defended by the organizations of the Brazilian left at least until the end of the 20th century. Our objective in this article is to make an exhibition of the national liberating program from a historical perspective, addressing its context of emergence and existence, the historical problems of Brazil that the organization proposed to solve and make a succinct approach of how these problems were common to others national political forces present at that time.
