A caracterização das trilhas sonoras do NES (1985 - 1995)

Abstract

O objetivo deste trabalho é apresentar a construção e as características das trilhas sonoras do Nintendo Entertainment System, conhecido como NES, entre 1985 e 1995. Inicialmente, será feito um breve resumo da história da música nos videogames, do seu início até o lançamento do NES. A seguir, será analisado o próprio home console a partir de suas especificações técnicas de áudio, e como os compositores, especificamente japoneses, superaram essas limitações criativamente para comporem suas trilhas. Finalmente, será feito um estudo de caso, analisando trilhas de The Legend of Zelda e Mega Man II para compreender melhor as composições para o NES.

The aim of this work is to show the construction and characteristics of the soundtracks for the Nintendo Entertainment System, commonly known as NES, between 1985 and 1995. Initially, a brief summary of the history of music in video games will be made, from its beginning until the launch of the NES. Next, the home console itself will be analyzed based on its technical audio specifications, and how composers, specifically the Japanese ones, creatively overcome these limitations to compose their soundtracks. Finally, a case study will be carried out, analyzing tracks from The Legend of Zelda and Mega Man II to better understand the compositions for the NES.
