Violence against women in Brazil: Basic Education classrooms as a space for prevention and debate

Abstract

Law 14.164/2021 amended the Law on National Education Guidelines and Bases -Law 9.394/1996 with the aim of promoting the prevention of violence against women in Basic Education curricula. To stimulate this discussion among managers, teachers and students in Brazilian Basic Education classrooms, we present this article, which has as its theme the social violence characteristic of modern capitalist societies. And by object, the recurrent violence against Brazilian women. The objective is to give visibility to the different ways in which these violences occur, presented in the form of discussed and analyzed data. The methodologies adopted were the literature review and research on websites that promote the defense and protection of women. In conclusion, we suggest that the debate and discussion on this issue in Basic Education classrooms has significant potential for the implementation of the aforementioned legal provision.
