Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo principal compreender os impactos sociais e psicológicos na vida da criança devolvida após um convívio afetivo com a família substituta no processo de adoção. Para isso utilizou-se do método materialista histórico-dialético que propõe uma visão de totalidade do objeto estudado. Desta forma foi realizada uma pesquisa bibliográfica, através de monografias, artigos, livros e legislações que abordam e regulamentam a adoção. Inicialmente buscou-se compreender a história da infância no Brasil, enfatizando a criança privada da convivência familiar, destacando também o marco da instituição do Estatuto da Criança e do Adolescente (ECA), que ressignificou essa história e trouxe a medida de adoção de forma regulamentada. Além disso, tornou-se necessário compreender a constituição das famílias adotantes e sua função primordial no desenvolvimento peculiar na vida das crianças adotivas. Para o entendimento e análise dos impactos sociais e psicológicos em crianças devolvidas no processo de adoção, investigou-se, principalmente, narrativas de crianças adotadas e crianças que passaram pelo processo de devolução. Por fim, analisou-se os fatores estruturais que possam desencadear-se na devolução de crianças adotadas, denunciando a negligência da atenção especializada na vida das crianças adotivas e buscando a construção de estratégias que visem o protagonismo da criança no processo de adoção, a fim de conter novas quebras de vínculos familiares.

The main objective of this research is to understand the social and psychological impacts on the life of the child returned after an affective relationship with the surrogate family in the adoption process. For this, the historical-dialectical materialist method was used, which proposes a vision of the totality of the object studied. In this way, the bibliographic research was carried out, through monographs, articles, books and legislation that address and regulate adoption. Initially, we sought to understand the history of childhood in Brazil, emphasizing the child deprived of family life, also highlighting the landmark of the institution of the Child and Adolescent Statute (ECA), which re-signified this history and brought the adoption measure in the regulated way. . In addition, it became necessary to understand the constitution of adopting families and their primary role in the peculiar development in the lives of adoptive children. In order to understand and analyze the social psychological impacts on children returned in the adoption process, we mainly investigated narratives of adopted children and children who went through the return process. Finally, the structural factors that may be triggered in the return of adopted children were analyzed, denouncing the negligence of specialized care in the lives of children and seeking to build strategies that aim at the child's role in the adoption process, in order to to adopt contain new breaks in family ties.
