ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNING OF THE WETLANDS OF THE PARANAPANEMA RIVER, ROSANA-SP: STUDY FOR THE ECOLOGICAL CORRIDOR CREATION, USING THE GTP SYSTEM (GEOSYSTEM-TERRITORY-LANDSCAPE) CONCEPTS

Abstract

This article presents an analysis and environmental characterization of the area known as Wetlands of the Paranapanema River, in Rosana municipality, using GTP System (Geosystem-Terrritory-Landscape) methodology proposed by Bertrand (1990), aiming environmental planning of the area, based on a proposal to create an ecological corridor. For this, a broad bibliographic review was done with themes such as landscape, geosystem and environmental legislation. The landscape characterization and analysis was carried out from Ecological Potential (Geomorphology-Climate-Hydrography) and Ecological Exploration (Vegetation-SoilFauna) mapping, as well as environmental legislation analysis about APPs and Legal Reserves. Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques were applied to elaborate maps, along with fieldwork to validate the information. The proposals for corridor creation were based on Public Inquiry 263/2010 of the Public Prosecutor's Office of the State of Sao Paulo, which discusses an on-site reserve area creation. In addition, other proposals analyzed which includes the study area in the regional context as in the case of the Parana River Biodiversity Corridor. Also, semi-structured interviews were performed with the purpose of extracting local population feelings towards this landscape and evaluate their intentions for the future of the area. Based on the results obtained, it is intended to establish an initial draft about the possibility of creating this ecological corridor, providing this material to Rosana City Hall, among other public agencies, nongovernmental organizations and local population, contributing to the debate.
