dc.description.abstractCurrent paper deals with the several ways in celebrating Carnival by the end of the 19th century and the start of the 20th century, analyzed from different sources such as newspapers of the period and musicals. The Carnival songs are focused, coupled to a description of the effort of educated people and authorities in attempting to regulate, discipline and homogenize the Carnival feasts in Rio de Janeiro.en
