Moda, arte e design: entrelaçamentos na reflexão sobre moda, a partir da obra ‘A Costura do Invisível’ de Jum Nakao

Abstract

O presente estudo tem como objetivo analisar a relação entre arte, moda e design expressa na obra performática "A Costura do Invisível" de Jum Nakao. A obra de Nakao vai além da estrutura convencional da moda e propõe uma reflexão aprofundada por meio da performance dessa coleção apresentada em 2004. O impacto dessa performance foi reconhecido internacionalmente, pois seu criador trouxe à tona os conflitos contemporâneos da moda, provocando o público, os críticos, os criadores e a indústria, levando-os a refletir sobre o papel tradicionalmente atribuído ao Design de Moda no período moderno e como essa concepção se torna insustentável na atualidade. Em um contexto de crise ambiental, em que o consumo excessivo resulta em um descarte desenfreado, o design de moda parece ainda aliar seus princípios aos valores do período moderno, priorizando os interesses mercadológicos, o lucro imediato em detrimento de considerações éticas e sustentáveis. Nesse sentido, nosso estudo adota uma abordagem metodológica tipológica pertinente às ciências sociais, com o intuito de compreender as interconexões entre Moda, Arte e Design presentes na performance "A Costura do Invisível" e como essa obra ainda contribui para a reflexão sobre a experiência do design de moda no contexto contemporâneo. Após quase duas décadas da apresentação dessa obra, nosso estudo busca destacar as questões que eram relevantes para Nakao naquela época e, com o devido distanciamento temporal, analisar as questões atuais que ainda possam permanecer pertinentes. Por fim, a relevância deste trabalho pode residir em sua contribuição para as áreas de conhecimento referidas, fornecendo subsídios para futuras investigações, estimulando o avanço do campo, e promovendo novas abordagens de estudo e compreensão das interações entre Moda, Arte e Design.

This study analyzes the relationship between art, fashion and design expressed in the work "The Sewing of the Invisible" by Jum Nakao. The work goes beyond the conventional structure of fashion and proposes a deep reflection through the performance of the collection presented in 2004. The impact of this performance was internationally recognized, as its creator brought to light the contemporary conflicts of fashion, provoking the public, the creators and the industry, leading them to reflect on the role traditionally attributed to Fashion Design in the modern period and how this conception becomes unsustainable today. In a context of environmental crisis, in which excessive consumption results in rampant disposal, fashion design still seems to ally its principles with the values of the modern period, prioritizing market interests, immediate profit to the detriment of ethical and sustainable considerations. In this sense, the study adopts a typological methodological approach pertinent to the social sciences, in order to understand the interconnections between Fashion, Art and Design present in the performance "The Sewing of the Invisible" and how this work contributes to the reflection on the experience of fashion design in the contemporary context.
