Resumo

This research aims to characterize the context of production of Brazilian theses and dissertations in environmental education (EE) that address the theme of recycling, concluded in the period from 1981 to 2016, as well as to analyze the political and pedagogical macro-trends present in these works, delimiting which political macro-tend of EE predominantly guides recycling research. In this study, using the Bank of Theses and Dissertations systematized by the Project Environmental Education in Brazil -academic production -theses and dissertations (EArte), 135 EE studies that address recycling were identified. From these studies, it was found that the recycling theme in Brazilian environmental education has been predominantly guided by market capitalism, making it necessary to stimulate a critical approach to the theme, through the reframing of political, social, economic and environmental issues.
