dc.description.abstractThe study aimed to verify the influence of land use in the Rio Novo basin on the quality of the water at its outflow at UHE Lucas Nogueira Garcez in Salto Grande / SP. Changes that have occurred in the basin were identified for the assessment simultaneously with the collection of water at the outflow of Rio Novo from September 2017 to August 2018 relating it to the physicochemical parameters of the water, dissolved oxygen, electric conductivity, pH value, water temperature, cloudiness, total suspended solids and clarity, whose parameters are the frameworks of the resolution CONAMA 357/2005. To prepare and identify the land use and land coverage, images of the Landsat 8 satellite sensor OLI has been used. Water analysis has shown that the alterations occurred in land use and coverage in the Rio Novo basin have not influenced the water quality at the outflow of the Salto Grande reservoir on Rio Paranapanema, including in off-season periods, where the vegetation coverage has significantly decreased subjecting the soil to erosive processes as those that occurred in the upper Rio Novo, where erosion susceptibility is identified as high. The survey results show that there is a need for more specific analyses, in order to have indicators which may be tracked from the source to the river mouth as a way of predicting possible environmental damage that may be happening upstream.en
