Resumo

This is a bibliographical research developed within the scope of a broader proposal (APQ 02373-21 FAPEMIG), which has as its theme the (dis)articulation of social markers of difference in New High School textbooks. The article aims to reflect critically on how markers of gender, sexuality and race/ethnicity were treated in two volumes of a collection of textbooks on Natural Sciences and their Technologies, recommended by PNLD-EM 2021. To achieve this, use was made of categorical-thematic analysis in a qualitative approach. As main results, it was found that the books presented few texts that actually spoke to some of the researched descriptors, the most prominent being sexuality and race. However, they did not delve deeper into the discussion or did not bring detailed reflections regarding the theme, despite there being several opportunities for this throughout the construction of the work. In conclusion, although of good quality in several aspects, the material failed to effectively contribute to the development of critical reflection and to the understanding of the connections between the categories under discussion, leaving this responsibility, therefore, to the Human Sciences books.
