Distribuição de trepadeiras da ordem Malpighiales no estado de São Paulo e identificação de áreas prioritárias para inventários florísticos

Abstract

As plantas de hábito trepador representam um importante componente florístico e estrutural das florestas tropicais, contribuindo para a riqueza, abundância, estrutura e função dessas comunidades. Nos últimos anos, as plantas trepadeiras têm sido o foco de diversos estudos, principalmente da florística. Entretanto, existem muitos fragmentos que ainda não foram inventariados no estado de São Paulo. A ausência de informações sobre a riqueza, abundância e distribuição de espécies de trepadeiras representa uma lacuna de conhecimento preocupante diante do manejo indiscriminado dessas plantas em fragmentos florestais. Portanto, é crucial investir em pesquisas que abordem essa lacuna de conhecimento. Com o intuito de preencher parte dessa lacuna, nossos objetivos foram determinar a distribuição das espécies de trepadeiras da ordem Malpighiales no estado de São Paulo e indicar as áreas prioritárias para inventários florísticos. Com o uso de bancos de dados, fornecidos pela plataforma SpeciesLink, tivemos acesso aos registros de coleta das plantas das famílias de Malpighiales em todos os municípios paulistas. Após a limpeza do banco de dados e revisão taxonômica dos táxons, elaboramos uma lista florística, identificamos as espécies com maior número de registros de coleta, construímos mapas da distribuição das espécies nos municípios e nas mesorregiões paulistas. Constatamos 5.430 registros de coleta de trepadeiras da ordem Malpighiales com ocorrência no estado de São Paulo pertencentes a 159 espécies. As regiões centro-oeste, noroeste, oeste e sudoeste do estado apresentaram as maiores lacunas de coleta de espécies de trepadeiras da ordem Malpighiales, especialmente as mesorregiões Marília, São José do Rio Preto, Presidente Prudente, Ribeirão Preto e Assis, indicadas neste estudo como as áreas prioritárias para realização de inventários florísticos.

Climbing plants represent an important floristic and structural component of tropical forests, contributing to the richness, abundance, structure and function of these communities. In recent years, climbing plants have been the focus of several studies, mainly in floristry. However, there are many fragments that have not yet been inventoried in the state of São Paulo. The lack of information on the richness, abundance and distribution of climbing species represents a worrying gap in knowledge given the indiscriminate management of these plants in forest fragments. Therefore, it is crucial to invest in research that addresses this knowledge gap. In order to fill part of this gap, our objectives were to determine the distribution of climbing species of the Malpighiales order in the state of São Paulo and indicate the priority areas for floristic inventories. Using databases provided by the SpeciesLink platform, we had access to plant collection records from Malpighiales families in all municipalities in São Paulo. After cleaning the database and taxonomic review of the taxa, we created a floristic list, identified the species with the highest number of collection records, and built maps of the distribution of the species in the municipalities and mesoregions of São Paulo. We found 5,430 collection records of climbing plants of the order Malpighiales occurring in the state of São Paulo, belonging to 159 species. The central-west, northwest, west and southwest regions of the state presented the largest gaps in the collection of climbing species of the Malpighiales order, especially the Marília, São José do Rio Preto, Presidente Prudente, Ribeirão Preto and Assis mesoregions, indicated in this study as the priority areas for carrying out floristic inventories.
