Resumo
Sludge from wastewater treatment plants is a material with a highly variable composition, depending on the characteristics of the municipal wastewater and the type of treatment. Managing this waste is a complex, costly, and challenging task. Although landfilling sludge is considered a safe disposal method, it does not move towards a circular economy or sustainable development. Therefore, the focus here is on the beneficial uses of sewage sludge, including various land applications and reuse as a raw material for manufacturing/production purposes.
