Interculturalidade e estratégias de negociação de sentido em interações de Teletandem

Abstract

O Teletandem Brasil é um projeto desenvolvido por pesquisadores da UNESP em parceria com universidades no exterior que apresenta um contexto colaborativo, autônomo e virtual para a aprendizagem de línguas estrangeiras, que proporciona aos seus participantes a oportunidade de interagir com falantes nativos ou não-nativos de diferentes línguas por meio de recursos tecnológicos de comunicação, tais como chamadas de áudio e vídeo e chats online (VASSALLO; TELLES, 2006). Durante as interações, as habilidades linguístico-comunicativas são desenvolvidas enquanto os participantes dialogam sobre diversos temas, que podem abordar a diversidade cultural e linguística de seus países. Essa temática pode, muitas vezes, apresentar desafios aos parceiros de interação, que tendem a utilizar estratégias de negociação de sentido variadas para compartilhar conhecimentos sobre sua língua e cultura com o outro. Com base nestas considerações, este trabalho busca, por meio de uma pesquisa qualitativa, interpretativista e descritiva, analisar excertos de interações no contexto do Teletandem nos quais foram identificadas situações em que participantes brasileiros compartilham informações (inter)culturais, e, a partir de análises dos dados coletados em tais excertos, buscamos a) identificar o que é compartilhado, por parte dos interagentes brasileiros, acerca da diversidade cultural e linguística que ocorreu nas interações com seus parceiros; e b) identificar quais estratégias os brasileiros utilizam para compartilhar tais conhecimentos acerca de sua própria língua e cultura com seus parceiros estrangeiros. Para desenvolver a pesquisa proposta, coletamos, selecionamos e analisamos dados oriundos de excertos de interações de Teletandem entre duas alunas brasileiras da UNESP de Araraquara e seus parceiros estrangeiros, realizadas em 2018, além de utilizar referencial teórico voltado à temática do componente cultural no ensino e aprendizagem de línguas e à discussão de conceitos ligados ao contexto do Teletandem. Os resultados indicam que o Teletandem pode proporcionar aos seus participantes o contato intercultural e a aprendizagem de uma língua e cultura estrangeiras, além de contribuir para que possam refletir sobre a própria língua e cultura quando estão em contato com os estrangeiros, compartilhando seus conhecimentos por meio de diversas estratégias de negociação de sentido, tais como traduções literais e explicações em português. Esperamos que a pesquisa contribua para a reflexão sobre o conhecimento acerca das trocas culturais e linguísticas nesse contexto, e instigue a criação de estratégias para lidar com as diferentes perspectivas sobre o ensino e a aprendizagem de língua e cultura em contextos telecolaborativos.

Teletandem Brasil is a project developed by UNESP researchers in partnership with foreign universities that presents a collaborative, autonomous and virtual context for learning foreign languages, which provides its participants with the opportunity to interact with native or nonnative speakers of different languages through technological communication resources, such as audio and video calls and online chats (VASSALLO; TELLES, 2006). During interactions, linguistic-communicative skills are developed while participants discuss different topics, which can address the cultural and linguistic diversity of their countries. This theme can often present challenges to interaction partners, who tend to use different negotiation of meaning strategies to share knowledge about their language and culture with each other. Based on these considerations, this work seeks, through a qualitative, interpretive and descriptive research, to analyze excerpts of interactions in the context of Teletandem in which we identified situationsin which Brazilian participants share (inter) cultural information, and, based on analyzes from the data collected in such excerpts, we seek to a) identify what is shared by Brazilian interactants about the cultural and linguistic diversity that occurred in interactions with their partners; and b) identify which strategies Brazilians use to share such knowledge about their own language and culture with their foreign partners. To develop the proposed research, we collected, selected and analyzed data from excerpts from Teletandem interactions between two Brazilian students from UNESP in Araraquara and their foreign partners, carried out in 2018, in addition to using theoretical framework focused on the theme of the cultural component in teaching and language learning and the discussion of concepts related to the context of Teletandem. The results show that Teletandem can provide its participants with intercultural contact and the learning of a foreign language and culture, in addition to helping them to reflect on their own language and culture when they are in contact with foreigners, sharing their knowledge through various negotiation of meaning strategies, such as literal translations and explanations in Portuguese. We hope that the research contributes to the reflection on the knowledge about cultural and linguistic exchanges in this context, and instigates the creation of strategies to deal with the different perspectives on the teaching and learning of language and culture in telecollaborative contexts.
