Resumo
O objetivo deste estudo foi descrever e comparar respectivamente o ciclo e o desempenho reprodutivo de fêmeas de pacu, Piaractus mesopotamicus, de diferentes idades. Além disso, avaliamos o efeito de induções hormonais em anos consecutivos no desempenho reprodutivo desta espécie. Foram utilizados dois grupos de fêmeas, as F1 (10 anos de idade) e as F2 (4 anos de idade) mantidas no Centro de Aquicultura da UNESP (CAUNESP/ Jaboticabal - SP). Para análise do ciclo reprodutivo foram realizadas biometrias nos períodos de vitelogênese (outubro), desova (dezembro) e repouso (março) em dois anos consecutivos. Em cada biometria, 5 a 10 indivíduos de cada grupo foram aleatoriamente separados e submetidos à canulação para obtenção de amostras de ovócitos que foram analisados quanto às características da vesícula germinativa e do diâmetro dos ovócitos. Amostras de sangue, coletadas por punção caudal, foram utilizadas para determinar a concentração plasmática de esteróides gonadais. Para a avaliação comparada do desempenho reprodutivo as fêmeas foram induzidas com extrato bruto de hipófise de carpa (EBHC) (10% - 0,5 mg hipófise kg-1 de peixe; 90% - 5,5 mg de hipófise kg-1 de peixe). Foi determinado o percentual de fêmeas de cada grupo que ovulou e as taxas de fertilidade e eclosão. Amostras das desovas foram coletadas para determinar o diâmetro e o número de ovócitos liberados por Kg de fêmea (fecundidade relativa). Um pool de larvas de cada grupo foi monitorado durante as primeiras 96 horas para determinação da biomassa (g), do comprimento total (mm), altura (mm) e volume do saco vitelino (mm3). Observamos que as F1 e F2 de pacu possuem similaridade na evolução de seus ciclos reprodutivos pois em ambos os grupos as fêmeas estavam em vitelogenese em outubro e aptas para desova em dezembro. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of age on the reproductive cycle and hormonal inductions in consecutive years on reproductive performance of female pacu, Piaractus mesopotamicus. We used two groups of females, the F1 (10 years old) and F2 (4 years old) kept in the Aquaculture Center of UNESP (CAUNESP / Jaboticabal - SP). Were weighted to occur for vitellogenesis (October) spawning (December) and rest (March) in two reproductive cycles. In biometrics, the F1 and F2 (n = 5-10 females per collection) were randomly captured and anesthetized with benzocaine (1 g L-1 water) for classification and data collection. With the exception of March, cannulation occurred in all biometrics, and the samples were divided for observation of the presence of the germinal vesicle and determine the mean diameter of oocytes. Blood samples were collected by caudal puncture performed to determine the plasma concentration of gonadal steroids. In the comparative evaluation of reproductive performance in December 2010 and December 2011 females were induced with crude extract of carp pituitary (EBHC) (10% - 0.5 mg kg-1 pituitary fish, 90% - 5.5 mg pituitary kg-1 fish). Samples of egg masses were collected to determine the diameter and the number of oocytes released per kg female (relative fecundity). The larvae were monitored during the first 96 hours and the time of hatching collected every 12 hours for determination of biomass (g) Total length (mm) height (mm) of yolk sac volume (mm3). The thickness of the abdomen (EA) is presented as a reliable parameter for the selection of mature F1 and F2, and the rigidity of the abdomen and the characteristics of the papilla assist in the selection of matrices. The catheterization showed similarity with histological analyzes.
