Resumo
Entre os séculos XIV e XV, a corte dos reis de Avis notabilizava-se pela promoção de diferentes tratados de caráter didático-moral direcionados à formação dos fiéis católicos do reino, especialmente daqueles homens e mulheres mais próximos aos monarcas. Visando estabelecer as bases de um reino virtuoso, os príncipes dessa dinastia buscaram constranger esses nobres para que soubessem como cuidar de seus corpos e espíritos, bem como da formação moral de seus filhos e filhas. Ao explorar os tratados escritos pelos primeiros membros da dinastia de Avis e seus coetâneos, nomeadamente o Livro da Montaria de D. João I, o Leal Conselheiro, Ensinhança de Bem Cavalgar Toda a Sela e o Livro da Cartuxa de D. Duarte, e a Virtuosa Benfeitoria, de D. Pedro, Duque de Coimbra, além de utilizar as crônicas escritas por Fernão Lopes, Crónica del Rei Dom Joham I, e por Gomes Eanes de Zurara, Crónica da Tomada de Ceuta, bem como os escritos anônimos de caráter religioso como o Orto do Esposo, o Virgeu de Consolaçon, o Boosco Deleitoso, e o Livro das Confissões de Martín Pérez, o alvo deste trabalho será serializar os conselhos que esses letrados escreveram para estimular os pais, irmãos, amigos, preceptores e confessores a iniciarem seus semelhantes tanto nos rudimentos da fé quanto nas regras elementares da corte. Do mesmo modo, serão explorados quais os principais instrumentos usados por esses guias na formação dos nobres, tais como a montaria, o tecer, a música, a missa e a leitura. Em resumo, este estudo visará mapear os atores e as práticas imprescindíveis na formação de homens e mulheres destinados a conduzir o reino de Portugal e suas principais instituições.
Between the 14th and 15th centuries, the court of the kings of Avis was notable for the promotion of different didactic-moral treaties aimed at the formation of the Catholic faithful of the kingdom, especially those men and women closest to the monarchs. In order to establish the foundations of a virtuous kingdom, the princes of this dynasty sought to constrain these nobles so that they would know how to care for their bodies and spirits, as well as the moral formation of their sons and daughters. When exploring the treatises written by the first members of the Avis dynasty and their contemporaries, namely the Riding Book of D. João I, the Loyal Counselor, Ensinhança de Bem Cavalgar Toda a Sela and the Carthusian Book of D. Duarte, and the Virtuosa Benfeitoria, by D. Pedro, Duke of Coimbra, in addition to using the chronicles written by Fernão Lopes, Chronicle of the King Dom Joham I, and Gomes Eanes de Zurara, Chronicle of the Taking of Ceuta, as well as the anonymous religious writings such as the Orthodox of the Spouse, the Virgeu de Consolaçon, the Boosco Delightful, and the Book of Confessions by Martín Pérez, the aim of this work will be to serialize the advice that these scholars wrote to encourage parents, brothers, friends, preceptors and confessors to start his fellow men both in the rudiments of faith and in the elementary rules of the court. Likewise, the main instruments used by these guides in the training of nobles will be explored, such as riding, weaving, music, mass and reading. In summary, this study will aim to map the actors and practices essential in the training of men and women destined to lead the kingdom of Portugal and its main institutions
