The first part of this work studies the influence of the width and radius of the MEO shading ring (Melo-Escobedo-Oliveira) in the measure of diffuse irradiance. Data obtained through two rings with different dimensions that have the same width/radius (b/R) ratio are analyzed. The data were obtained from the radiometric station of the Faculty of Agronomic Sciences of the State University of São Paulo UNESP - Botucatu. The performance of each ring is analyzed according to the transmissivity index (Kt). In the second part, a study was carried out comparing diffuse irradiation measurements of the MEO ring with the aerosol optical depth (AOD) of the MODIS sensor of the TERRA and ACQUA satellites.
