Resumo
Esta dissertação tem como objeto de estudo o movimento católico Toca de Assis que tem como carismas a adoração ao Santíssimo Sacramento e o cuidado com as pessoas em situação de rua. Baseado em trabalho etnográfico, este texto tem por objetivo refletir o processo de conversão dos jovens que se consagram à comunidade Toca de Assis. A pesquisa foi realizada no Instituto Irmãos da Pobreza e do Santíssimo Sacramento em Londrina/ PR. Este trabalho foca em duas questões: 1. os interesses individuais que levam esses jovens a buscarem a Toca de Assis; 2. o processo de tornar-se toqueiro, por meio de constantes rituais e condutas que levam ao que eles próprios denominam de um “rebaixamento de si”. A pesquisa também se propõe a compreender e tencionar a noção de comunidade e individualidade presente no Instituto. Com a pesquisa foi possível concluir que ao mesmo tempo que a Toca de Assis sugere uma experiência de vida religiosa fraterna e comunitária, na vida cotidiana do instituto os jovens adotam estratégia para conservar hábitos e características que possuíam antes de sua conversão, reforçando sua individualidade, em consonância vivência proposta pelo movimento.
This dissertation has as its object of study the Catholic movement Toca de Assis, whose charisms are the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and the care for people on the streets. Based on ethnographic work, this text aims to reflect the conversion process of young people who consecrate themselves to the Toca de Assis community. The research was carried out at the Irmãos da Pobreza and Santíssimo Sacramento Institute in Londrina / PR. This work focuses on two issues: 1. the individual interests that lead these young people to seek Toca de Assis; 2. the process of becoming a tooker, through constant rituals and behaviors that lead to what they themselves call a “demotion of oneself”. The research also aims to understand and intend the notion of community and individuality present in the Institute. With the research it was possible to conclude that at the same time that Toca de Assis suggests an experience of fraternal and community religious life, in the daily life of the institute, young people adopt a strategy to preserve habits and characteristics that they had before their conversion, reinforcing their individuality, in line with the experience proposed by the movement.
