Resumo
A presente pesquisa tem como objetivo central investigar o processo de construção de uma identidade política entre os suevos, sendo este um elemento decisivo para que a Monarquia em questão reinasse de forma absoluta na Galiza. Para a análise deste processo, compreendemos a identidade sueva dividida em duas fases distintas, porém complementares: Na primeira delas temos Hidácio, que escreve uma crônica com o relato dos principais acontecimentos ocorridos no período de 379 a 469, sendo os suevos os protagonistas de sua narrativa. Através desta obra verificamos que o século V será marcado como um período de organização do reino onde as bases da Monarquia estão sendo edificadas a partir de inúmeros acordos territoriais com Roma e com as populações locais. No século VI, assistimos à concretização deste processo por meio dos escritos produzidos pelo bispo Martinho de Braga, que configuram o ponto chave na efetivação desta identidade, uma vez que sua relação com o monarca suevo Miro representa uma convergência de interesses entre as esferas política e religiosa, que passaram a ajudar-se mutuamente a fim de alcançarem a hegemonia no contexto galego. Assim, a tese que buscamos desenvolver estará assentada na análise de discursos que representam diferentes momentos e perspectivas acerca dos suevos, mas que evidenciam as ações destes na busca por uma identidade política que pudesse levá-los à governança de um reino ideal.
This research has the main aim of investigate the political identity building process among the Suebi, considering that this is the decisive element for the Monarchy to reign completely in Galicia. To analyze this process, we understand the Suebi identity divided in two different phases, but complementary: In the first one, there is Hydatius, who writes a chronicle with the report of the main happenings occurred in the period from 379 to 469, being the Suebi the main characters of his narrative. Through this work, we verify that the 5th century will be marked as a period of organization of the kingdom where the basis of the Monarchy are being built from numerous territorial agreements with Rome and with the local population. In the 6th century, we watch the achievement of this process through the writings produced by the bishop Martin of Braga, which constitute the key point in this identity realization, since his relationship with the Suebi monarch Miro represents a convergence of interests between the political and religious spheres that started helping mutually in order to reach the hegemony in the Galician context. Thus, the thesis that we seek to develop will be based on the analysis of discourses that represent different moments and perspectives about the Suebi, but highlight their actions in the pursuit of a political identity that would be able to lead them to a governance of an ideal kingdom.
