Geografia e literatura: o olhar de uma geógrafa sobre a obra Casa de Pensão (1884) de Aluísio de Azevedo

Resumo
O estudo das relações entre Geografia e arte tem, há alguns anos, ganhado maior destaque que em décadas anteriores. Neste trabalho, será explorada, especificamente, a literatura como um dos pilares de estudo associado à Geografia. O foco será no autor naturalista Aluísio de Azevedo e sua produção, em especial a obra Casa de pensão (1884). A correlação entre a Geografia e a citada obra literária ocorrerá através da análise da influência da filosofia positivista, para a dimensão científica, e o naturalismo, no caso da obra literária. Outra dimensão explorada no estudo, será as configurações do espaço urbano no contexto das reformas modernizadoras por que passou a cidade do Rio de Janeiro, localidade em que se transcorria a trama abordada. A análise partirá da perspectiva de Aluísio de Azevedo em representar tanto as atitudes dos personagens, como a espacialidade carioca. É, assim, provável concluir que Casa de pensão oferece vividas representações da essência das configurações dos espaços em que perpassam seus personagens. Nesse sentido, é possível considerar, também, que ele próprio, o espaço da trama, se torna um de seus personagens. Além disso, quando os escritos do literato são colocados em diálogo com a história da Geografia urbana, fica revelada uma trama ainda mais rica e reveladora da amplitude em que espaços e lugares estão apresentados na obra.
The study of the relationship between Geography and art has, for some years, gained greater prominence than in previous decades. In this work, the literature will be specifically explored as one of the study pillars associated with Geography. The focus will be on the naturalist author Aluísio de Azevedo and his production, especially the work Casa de pensão (1884). The correlation between Geography and the aforementioned literary work will occur through the analysis of the influence of positivist philosophy, for the scientific dimension, and naturalism, in the case of the literary work. Another dimension explored in the study will be the configurations of urban space in the context of the modernizing reforms that the city of Rio de Janeiro went through, the location where the plot discussed took place. The analysis will start from the perspective of Aluísio de Azevedo in representing both the attitudes of the characters and the spatiality of Rio de Janeiro. It is, therefore, likely to conclude that Casa de pensão offers vivid representations of the essence of the configurations of the spaces in which its characters permeate. In this sense, it is also possible to consider that he, the plot space, becomes one of his characters. Furthermore, when the writings of the literate are placed in dialogue with the history of urban geography, an even richer plot is revealed, revealing the breadth in which spaces and places are presented in the work.
